The Donut

biteLast week Bash’s teacher asked for a recent family picture.  They are working on a family unit in school and focusing on what it means to be part of a family and different responsibilities each family member has.  I have a lot of pictures of all of us but not many of all of us together…except one.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I entered a challenge on Instagram entitled #WeWearPink.  When I saw the contest the photo idea popped into my head instantly.  We’d all dress in pink, the boys looking mad that they are wearing a girly color and we’d be in front of my pink car…perfect!  I submitted this photo for the challenge, but also to Bash’s teach for his family unit.

Apparently this embarrassed Bash.

After Bash found out that’s what I submitted he let. me. have. it.  He was just yelling at me on the way home from school.   I calmly let him voice his frustrations, then in a quiet voice I said, “oh Bash, you poor thing.  Since I’m your parent, there will be many, many, embarrassing moments you’ll be put through.”  He did NOT find that amusing.

Last week there was a Halloween festival at school.  It was filled with a parade of costumes, picture taking, arts & crafts and candy treats.  I volunteered to help out at one of the art stations and once the crafting was done the teacher invited me to stay for lunch.  Since I haven’t had the opportunity to eat lunch with my man, I thought this would be the perfect chance!

I sat among his friends and felt pretty invisible.  The teacher is concerned that Bash is too shy, but this social butterfly had much to say and none of it was to me.  Lunch time was coming to a close and my little chatterbox hadn’t touched his sandwich.  I asked him to take a GIANT bite, which he did and to make sure he’d take another one, I made a big deal about the bite.

“You guys, look at how HUGE Bash’s mouth is!” Visualize me grabbing the sandwich and making a mouth out of the bite mark.  The kids were so excited and very impressed with Bash.

One of the boys said, “Jessie, my mom can eat a half donut in ONE bite!”

And that’s when I realized it, our little offspring’s are out there embarrassing us to their friends without us even knowing.  The little spies are watching and learning our every moves and anything that we think will stay in our house doesn’t; given the chance they go right to their friends and confess our secrets.

It could be farts, burps or how much / fast you eat.  Either way, your house is not Vegas and your secrets will be shared.  Beware.

Much Love,

Jes xoxo
