She’s Got the Look

IF you didn’t know, I was born in Colorado.

I don’t remember what birthday or who gave me my Mickey Mouse record player but I had one. I had a one heck of a record collection, some books on albums but I had a ton of records.

One summer my family and I road-tripped to Minnesota to visit our extended family and our Colorado house started on fire. My parent’s, both born in Minnesota, had been considering moving back; they took the fire as a sign they should take the plunge.

We moved to Minnesota when I was 7. My Mickey Mouse record player didn’t survive the fire.

On my 8th birthday, months after we moved, my parents bought me a boom box. It was a little blue boom box with a space on the back by the battery compartment for the headphones. I still have it, it still works, however the headphones have LONG been lost.

Fun fact: my very first cassette tapes were Roxette – Look Sharp and Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet. I can not even begin to tell you how many rock shows I’ve put on singing Roxette into my hairbrush.

She’s got the look is DEFINITELY one of my top 5 favorite songs… and now that the blog has a new look, it seemed about time to share that fun fact!

Namaste,

Jes xoxo
