Aging…

It’s been lurking in the shadows, ready to jump out and attack.

Before I was ready, it was here…

My birthday.

Honestly, I can’t believe I’m turning 29 (AGAIN) in two days.

You read that right.  I’ll be turning 29 again, and I don’t care one bit that I’ve had a few (Ok, more than a few) 29th birthdays.  Here’s why…

I know this Registered Nurse.  She has beautiful blonde hair and a baby face.  Her face doesn’t have one wrinkle, it’s as if she’s never even heard the word stress and definitely hasn’t suffered from the meaning of it.

A few years ago we were chatting because she was turning the big 3 0 in a matter of months and could. NOT. wait.  That surprised me.  People WANT to be 30?

She explained to me that with her turning 30, people (mainly patients) would finally take her seriously and not treat her like she was a little kid that doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

I can understand that.  But here’s the thing… 30 doesn’t come with a badge.  You don’t just turn 30 and look it.  You don’t get wise overnight.  You just start a new decade, hopefully with a little more experience than when you started your 20s.

Don’t get me wrong.  I think that aging is a beautiful thing. There is a quote, that states: Don’t regret getting older, it is a privilege denied to many.  That quote is lovely and true.

Aging is a priviledge

The truth is, I don’t want to stop getting older, but I just don’t see how I can turn 30 if my grandmother is only 45!  She’s always told me, “you’re only as old as you feel, Jessie”.  Quite honestly I might just have to turn 21this year!

Much Love,

Jes xoxo
